Support Gut Health, Immunity and Feed Efficiency

Alltech Mycosorb® is a yeast-derived mycotoxin binder designed to help reduce the impact of mycotoxins in animal feeds. It works by adsorbing a broad range of common mycotoxins in the gastrointestinal tract, limiting their absorption and supporting animal health and performance.

Mycosorb® is derived from the cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and is widely used in poultry, pigs, ruminants and equine nutrition where feed contamination risk exists.

Benefits of Mycosorb:

Broad-Spectrum Mycotoxin Binding

Mycosorb® is designed to adsorb multiple classes of mycotoxins, including aflatoxins, ochratoxins, zearalenone and certain trichothecenes. By binding toxins within the gastrointestinal tract, it reduces their absorption into the bloodstream.

Supports Liver Function

The liver is the primary organ responsible for detoxification. By reducing systemic mycotoxin load, Mycosorb® indirectly supports liver health, metabolic efficiency and overall resilience.

Protects Feed Intake and Palatability

Mycotoxins often depress appetite. By reducing their biological impact, Mycosorb® helps maintain consistent feed intake, which is critical for growth, milk yield, egg production and performance.

Maintains Immune Competence

Mycotoxins can suppress immune function, increasing susceptibility to disease. Mycosorb® supports immune stability by limiting toxin-induced immune suppression.

Supports Reproductive Performance

Certain mycotoxins, particularly zearalenone, can negatively impact fertility, embryo viability and reproductive hormone balance. Mycosorb® helps mitigate these risks in breeding animals.

Protects Growth and Production Efficiency

In poultry and pigs, mycotoxin exposure often leads to reduced weight gain and poorer feed conversion. In ruminants, it may impact milk yield and composition. Mycosorb® helps protect performance by reducing subclinical toxin effects.

Reduces Risk of Subclinical Damage

Even low-level mycotoxin contamination can cause chronic, subclinical damage to the gut lining and internal organs. Mycosorb® helps reduce long-term cumulative effects.

Supports Gut Integrity

By limiting toxin irritation within the digestive tract, it helps maintain intestinal structure and nutrient absorption efficiency.

Suitable for Multiple Feed Systems

Stable in mash and pelleted feeds and compatible with mineral premixes, making it practical across commercial and on-farm rations.

Suitable for Horses

In horses, mould-contaminated hay and grain can contribute to reduced appetite, poor coat quality, behavioural changes and digestive disturbances. Mycosorb® may help reduce toxin burden, supporting:

  • Stable body condition

  • Improved digestive consistency

  • Immune resilience

  • Performance stability in working horses

TYPICAL COMPOSITION:

  • Yeast cell wall extract

  • Beta-glucans

  • Mannan oligosaccharides

  • Organic adsorbent components

  • Low moisture, free-flowing powder

  • It does not contain live yeast and functions as a physical adsorbent rather than a microbial additive.

Our feeds are made in South Australia in a FeedSafe accredited feed mill, ensuring consistent quality in every batch. When you buy from us, you’re supporting a family owned and family run business.

Feeding Instructions

Inclusion rates vary depending on species, contamination risk and production stage. Always follow manufacturer label directions.

General inclusion guide:

  • Poultry: 0.5–2.0 kg per tonne of finished feed

  • Pigs: 0.5–2.0 kg per tonne

  • Ruminants: 5–20 g per head per day

  • Horses: 5–15 g per day depending on bodyweight and risk exposure

Higher inclusion rates may be used where mycotoxin challenge is suspected.

STORAGE REQUIREMENTS:

For optimum quality and shelf life product should be stored below 30°C and off the floor in a cool, dry, well ventilated area protected from direct sunlight.

Frequently asked questions

1. What is Mycosorb® used for?
It is used to bind mycotoxins in feed and reduce their absorption in the digestive tract.

2. What are mycotoxins?
Mycotoxins are toxic compounds produced by certain moulds that can contaminate grains, hay and silage.

3. Does Mycosorb® treat disease?
No. It does not treat disease. It reduces the risk associated with consuming contaminated feed.

4. Can it be fed long term?
Yes, it can be included continuously in feed where mycotoxin risk is ongoing.

5. Will it bind vitamins and minerals?
When used at recommended levels, it is designed to minimise binding of essential nutrients.

6. Is it suitable for breeding animals?
Yes, it is commonly used in breeding stock where mycotoxin exposure may impact fertility.

7. Can it be used during heat stress?
Yes, particularly where stress may exacerbate the effects of toxin exposure.

8. Does it contain live yeast?
No. It is a yeast cell wall–derived adsorbent, not a probiotic.

9. How should it be stored?
Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight.

10. Can horses safely consume Mycosorb®?
Yes, when fed at appropriate inclusion rates. It is commonly used in equine nutrition where mould risk exists in stored feeds.
