Alltech Actigen® is a second-generation, yeast-derived feed additive designed to support gut integrity, nutrient utilisation and overall performance in livestock and poultry. It is produced from a specific fraction of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cell wall, rich in bioactive carbohydrates.
Benefits of Actigen:
Supports gut integrity Helps maintain a healthy intestinal lining, which is critical for nutrient absorption and overall performance.
Assists in managing pathogenic pressure Binds certain undesirable bacteria in the gut, reducing their ability to attach and colonise.
Improves feed efficiency By supporting digestive function, animals may achieve better feed conversion ratios.
Enhances nutrient utilisation A more stable gut environment can improve the absorption of energy, protein and micronutrients.
Supports immune function Helps modulate the immune response, particularly during stress periods.
Useful during stress events Beneficial during weaning, transport, dietary changes, vaccination or heat stress.
Suitable for antibiotic-reduction programmes Commonly included in feeding strategies aimed at reducing reliance on in-feed antibiotics.
Consistent, stable formulation Non-live yeast fraction, making it stable in pelleted feeds and variable storage conditions.
TYPICAL COMPOSITION:
Concentrated mannan-rich fraction (MRF)
Mannan oligosaccharides
Beta-glucans
Yeast cell wall components
Low moisture, free-flowing powder
Actigen does not contain live yeast. Its functional components act within the gastrointestinal tract to help manage pathogenic pressure and support beneficial microflora.
Our feeds are made in South Australia in a FeedSafe accredited feed mill, ensuring consistent quality in every batch. When you buy from us, you’re supporting a family owned and family run business.
Feeding Instructions
General inclusion guide:
Poultry: 200–400 g per tonne of finished feed
Pigs: 200–800 g per tonne
Ruminants: 2–4 g per head per day (calves higher rates during stress)
Higher inclusion may be used during stress periods such as transition, weaning, vaccination or environmental challenge.
STORAGE REQUIREMENTS:
For optimum quality and shelf life product should be stored below 30°C and off the floor in a cool, dry, well ventilated area protected from direct sunlight.

1. What is Alltech Actigen®? Actigen® is a yeast-derived feed additive made from a concentrated mannan-rich fraction of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It is designed to support gut health, immune function and feed efficiency in livestock and poultry.
2. How does Actigen® work? Actigen® works by binding certain pathogenic bacteria in the gut, reducing their ability to attach to the intestinal wall. This helps support gut integrity and maintain a healthier microbial balance.
3. Is Actigen® a probiotic? No. Actigen® does not contain live yeast. It is a functional yeast cell wall fraction that works differently from probiotics.
4. What animals can use Actigen®? Actigen® is commonly used in poultry, pigs, calves and other ruminants. Inclusion rates vary depending on species and production stage.
5. Can Actigen® be used in horses? Yes, Actigen® can be included in equine diets as a gut support additive. It may assist with digestive stability and microbial balance, particularly during stress, travel or dietary changes.
6. What is a typical dose for horses? A common guideline is 2 to 5 grams per day for maintenance, with higher rates during periods of stress. Always seek advice from a qualified nutritionist or veterinarian before use.
7. When should Actigen® be used? It is particularly useful during weaning, transport, heat stress, dietary transitions or other times when gut health support is beneficial.
8. Can Actigen® be fed long term? Yes, Actigen® is suitable for continuous inclusion as part of a balanced feeding programme.
9. Does Actigen® replace antibiotics? Actigen® is not an antibiotic and does not treat disease. However, it is often included in feeding strategies aimed at supporting performance and reducing reliance on antibiotics.
10. How should Actigen® be stored? Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep the container sealed to maintain product quality.
